BOZEMAN — It’s been almost a week since the Montana State men’s basketball team fell in a one-point heart-breaker to Portland State. But the Bobcats get to return home Saturday and try to bounce back against Eastern Washington.
The Eagles, however, will not be an easy home game. Coming into Saturday’s contest they’re averaging 84 points per game while shooting 47 percent from the field and 34 percent from beyond the arc. Their past two games have been uncharacteristic, including a blowout loss to Montana and just a three-point win over Idaho. But the Bobcats know they have their work cut out for them when they tip off Saturday afternoon.
“I mean, they’re a great team. They’re basically returning everyone from last year and even added a couple pieces to the puzzle," said MSU senior guard Harald Frey. "They’re a great offensive team, they’re up there with the best scoring teams in the nation. They shoot the 3 well and have some big guys who can really produce. ... We’ve had some tough games with them in the past, but I think it’s going to be a fun game.”
“They can really, really score the ball. They were one of the top three teams in the country scoring as of two weeks ago. Now they’ve hit a little bit of a downer scoring-wise in the past couple weeks, but they’re so potent offensively," added Bobcats head coach Danny Sprinkle. "We’re going to have to really pick up our defensive intensity and we’re going to have to be on point this Saturday.”
Montana State and Eastern Washington tip off from Worthington Arena at 4 p.m. Saturday.
