Montgomery fire rescue battled two house fires about 12 hours apart, officials said.

Firefighters were dispatched about 10:50 a.m. on Monday to the 3200 block of South Perry Street in response to a call about visible smoke.

Montgomery Fire Capt. Jason Cupps said when firefighters arrived, smoke was pouring from the structure and shortly after flames became noticeable. Cupps described the home as a one story home with a brick vaneer. The home also appeared to be abandoned, Cupps said.

"Crews made an aggressive attack on the fire to the area of origin and attic space to extinguish the fire," Cupps said.

No one was injured in the blaze. Cupps said investigators are still working to determined what started the fire.

Around 11 p.m. crews were then dispatched to a home in the 600 block of North Maryland Street and found visible smoke a flames. The fire extended into the attic but was quickly extinguished, Cupps said.

The residents were out of the home when firefighters arrived and no one was injured, Cupps said.

Cupps said the fire began in the laundry room, but investigators have yet to determine how it began.
