A national doggy day care chain is building its second Alabama location near the intersection of Vaughn and Taylor roads in east Montgomery.

The $1.4 million Camp Bow Wow will be at 3712 Malcolm Drive, next to Newtopia Fun Park. It plans to offer day care, boarding, grooming, training and even in-home pet care when it opens this fall.

The chain has more than 160 locations across North America, including one in Mobile.

“Pups will enjoy all-day play in our spacious play yards and pet parents will get to watch them on the Camper Cams, which is unlike anything currently offered in the area,” Camp Bow Wow Montgomery owner Jeff Gold said in a release announcing the plans.

Camp Bow Wow plans to open this fall at 3712 Malcolm Drive in east Montgomery.

The center had a groundbreaking last week, and work continues on the 8,000 square foot building and its surrounding site. Gold said to expect outdoor areas where dogs will play together, and that all “camp counselors” will be certified in pet first aid and CPR.

No prices have been announced, but the Mobile location offers day care at $24 a day, with discounts for longer blocks of time or for multiple dogs.

The Montgomery location is also planning dog-focused community events and adoption programs.
