U.S. Marshals arrest Montgomery man after ex-wife's home broken into, hit with handgun

Richmond Lamar Gilchrist was charged with first and second degree domestic violence after he allegedly broke into and injured his ex-wife.

A Montgomery man was jailed after he allegedly broke into his ex-wife's home and injured her with a handgun. 

Richmond Gilchrist, 27, was charged with first-degree domestic violence burglary and second-degree domestic violence assault in connection to an incident Sunday morning. 

According to court record, Gilchrist broke into a home in the 200 block of West Woodland Drive about 10:40 a.m. where the victim, listed in court records as his ex-wife whom he has children with, lives. 

While at the home, Gilchrist allegedly threatened the victim and also injured her with the handgun. Montgomery police Capt. Saba Coleman said the victim "was not shot however, she was hit with the weapon."

Gilchrist was arrested three days after the alleged attack by U.S. Marshals and booked into the Montgomery County Detention Facility with a combined $80,000 bond.
