Two were arrested this week for allegedly kidnapping, beating and robbing two men, including a 77-year-old man now in the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the State Bureau of Investigation.

Jessie Dale Ford and Ibraheem Yazeed were taken into custody and both are charged with attempted murder, two counts of kidnapping and two counts of first-degree robbery.

According to court records, both men were held against their will in a hotel room on the 1200 block of Eastern Boulevard in Montgomery in the evening hours of Jan. 29.

There the older man was beaten until "unconscious, unresponsive, severely injured and near death" and robbed of a Rolex, rifle, handguns, wallet, bank card, clothing and unknown amount of currency.

The other man was beaten "until injured" and robbed of at least $40.

SBI Capt. Joe Herman said law enforcement first got involved when Macon County Sheriff's Office received a tip of a car driving erratically down the interstate.

"Macon County deputies made contact with the driver and then inside the vehicle was a 77-year-old white male that had been severely beaten," Herman said. "Their investigation determined that the male had been beaten, robbed and abducted from his vehicle in Montgomery."

Macon County investigators contacted the SBI, which Herman said partnered with MPD to apprehend Ford and Yazeed.

Herman said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected, but that it appears to have been a "planned, targeted attack."

"I do want to credit Macon County investigators. If had not been for them, this case would have been much more difficult to solve," Herman said.
