Mizoram has been facing cooking gas crisis for the last three months due to insufficient supply from Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).

Consumers are being hit hard as they received irregular and scanty supply of cooking gas since July.

A statement issued by Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) department on Wednesday said that the state government is making massive efforts to solve the prevailing crisis.

It also said that Mizoram has been hit by LPG crisis due to insufficient supply from Indian Oil Corporation and Durga Puja vacation.

The IOC was able to supply only 40 per cent of the total requirement, officials said. The officials further said that state government is taking steps to call in other LPG agencies like Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum and also efforts are on to install other gas bottling plants in the state as the premier bottling plant at Mualkhang near Aizawl is not sufficient to meet the requirement.

Mizoram is fed by Borkhola bottling plant in Silchar and Mualkhang bottling plant.
