Don't leaf me this way: Where to find MN fall color despite the weather
Yes, it's cold, gray, rainy and snowy in many of the places where Minnesota's fall color is peaking. But don't fret. The fall beauty is rapidly moving south toward the Twin Cities, and the season's gems are out there for the hearty.
Much of the Arrowhead region and central Minnesota is ready to break out the big color. And there are pockets of peak goodness approaching in the bluff country of far southeastern Minnesota and around Blue Mounds State Park in the state's southwestern corner where it might not be so bad on Saturday.

Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area
For the area's best view, bike, hike or drive up to the Miner's Mountain Overlook.
Cottonwoods, Aspen and Birch so expect to see lots of brilliant gold and yellows at peak. Not much green remaining on the landscape and with recent wind, snow and rain the leaves will fall quickly. The new maple's that were planted in Miner's Mountain Rally Center are currently displaying brilliant reds and oranges.
St. Croix State Park
It's the perfect time to climb the fire tower and see sweeping views with many colors: bright red maples, yellow aspens and amber oaks. Cold, rainy, windy weather for many days has accelerated the falling of leaves, especially on birch and ash trees.
Fall migration is in full swing. Look for migrating birds.
Maplewood State Park
The maples are currently displaying pockets of scarlets, oranges and yellows. Golden birches are turning too, along with the maroons and golden hues of oaks. Aspens are turning yellow and peaking.
Hallaway Hill is a visitor favorite for viewing fall colors and taking in the beauty of the park's lakes, prairies and hardwood forests. Take a drive on the 4.5-mile scenic park drive through the heart of the park.
