CENTRAL JERSEY - The timing of this season's most significant snow storm may have saved North Jersey from a crippling Monday morning rush hour. Relatively warm air temperatures did the trick elsewhere in the state.

Following are rolling updates from Middlesex, Somerset, Hunterdon and Union counties. Stay with MyCentralJersey throughout the storm.

Somerset County Transportation Services

Somerset County public transportation resumes at 8 a.m. today (March 4). Paratransit service is being provided only to dialysis and medical appointments.

RVCC to Have Delayed Opening

Due to the snowstorm, Raritan Valley Community College will delay its opening today until 11 a.m. The academic schedule will begin with those classes that start at 11 a.m. or later.

Somerset County-operated Senior Centers

The following senior centers operated by the Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services will be closed Monday, March 4, in anticipation of inclement weather: Hillsborough, Montgomery, Quail Brook, Warrenbrook and the Senior Wellness Centers in Basking Ridge and Bridgewater.

Somerset County Transportation will NOT deliver Meals on Wheels. Clients are asked to use non-perishable meals sent out earlier in the season. If clients do not have frozen meals, or if they have lost power, they can use Heater Meals, shelf-stable meals that come in an orange box.  Directions for heating are on the box. Heater Meals are NOT intended for use in a microwave oven.

The Office on Aging and Disability Services, located at 27 Warren St. in Somerville, will be closed to walk-ins until 12 p.m.

Bernards Township Schools

Due to the weather conditions, all Bernards Township Schools will be on a 2-hour delayed opening schedule on March 4, 2019. Ridge High and William Annin will begin at 10:00 AM and all elementary schools will begin at 10:45 AM. Lunch will only be served at the high school.
