Honoring Vermont veterans for their commitment to our country and taking time to honor and recognize those who risked it all for our freedom.
This annual Medal Ceremony has been going on, since 2002.
This year two people were honored with the “Vermont Veterans Medal” and the “Vermont Distinguished Service Medal” both given to vets who’ve served honorably in combat.
Michael Ferrant and Nancy Barbour were both members of the U.S. Army Reserve, who both did a tour of duty in Afghanistan.
“I’ve had some moments of reflection and felt as if it’s time to celebrate some of my accomplishments and this is one of them. I Take pride in what I’ve done but I’m proud of everybody that’s served,” said medal recipient Nancy Barbour.
Governor Scott also thanked family members of those who’ve served, saying they’ve shared in that sacrifice.
