Flooding from rain and snow melt has created problems along river banks and the Lake Champlain shoreline.

The lake’s water level has exceeded the 100-foot flood stage and is inundating low lying areas along the shore.

As of 7 p.m. Monday, all of the gauges along the lake were reporting minor flooding.

At the King Street Dock in downtown Burlington, the waters covered the parking areas for the ferry dock and the businesses nearby.

“It’s just nature, you can’t really do anything about it, and so you just got to live with it, accept it. Clearly this isn’t the first time it happened so I feel bad for all the business that are affected by it,” said Jordan Coolige.

The end of Perkins Pier is inaccessible as the water has spilled over, and along the Burlington Greenway and bike path, pedestrians are being forced to take a detour around the flooding.
