WINDHAM, Vt.

A storm survey team with the National Weather Service forecast office out of Albany, N.Y. has confirmed a high-end EF 1 tornado touched down briefly in Windham, Vt. at 5:05 PM Wednesday, August 21, 2019.

The team found a path of continuous damage, 0.75 miles long and 350 yards wide. This consisted of “violently snapped” or uprooted trees, plus shingle and siding damage. Shingles and outdoor furniture were tossed “hundreds of yards”. The maximum wind speed is estimated between 105-110 mph.

There were two other EF 1 tornadoes earlier that afternoon, also confirmed by NWS Albany, in Johnstown, N.Y. and Saratoga Springs, N.Y. There were no reported injuries or fatalities.
