Burlington police say the incident happened on North Street, where Sharrif and Arbow had agreed to meet two unidentified men to sell a phone. According to a police report, Sharrif and another individual assaulted both potential buyers, taking their money and the phone before driving off.
Authorities say they were dispatched to the area after receiving a report of assault and robbery at approximately 3:50 p.m. Sharrif and Arbow were spotted by officers, who proceeded to pull them over and conduct a high-risk motor vehicle stop, according to the department.
Sharrif provided several false names before being properly identified under a name that carried an active probation warrant stemming from two simple assault and larceny convictions, per the department.
Police believe the second person involved in the assault fled the scene prior to the traffic stop, and say at least two people involved with the incident haven't been located.
