Students at a Vermont school received a lesson Tuesday about bullying and bullying prevention.Puppeteers with the organization Puppets in Education came to the Enosburg Falls Elementary School to teach a group of fourth and fifth graders about the issue of bullying. "It is critical," said puppeteer Sarah Vogelsang-Card. "These programs are lifesaving, and life changing for children." The lesson included a puppet show followed by an interactive presentation, defining bullying and discussing how to deal with a bully. Vogelsang-Card and another puppeteer, Karen Sharpwolf, were sponsored by 100 Women who Care, a group of Franklin County women who provide financial assistance to nonprofits that make a local impact. "Children disclose right to the puppets over a five-year period with 87 disclosures of abuse to the puppets," Vogelsang-Card said. Puppets in Education travel to schools throughout the country, talking about issues related to mental health, attention deficit disorder, domestic and sexual abuse and disability awareness, just to name a few.
