UPDATE: MARIANNA, Fla. (WMBB) — Authorities have confirmed the fatal accident involved two local men, an 85-year-old man from Alford and a 49-year-old from Bonifay.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of the red pick-up truck pulled out in front of the dump-truck as he was crossing the highway.

The driver of the red pick-up truck was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.

Troopers said the dump-truck driver had to be life-flighted to Ascension Sacred Heart Bay in Panama City.

Residents who live nearby the scene are familiar with how dangerous this intersection can be.

“People will come flying through this road and up the speedbumps and stuff and just I’ve heard tires squealing from breaks and people coming in here squealing tires and pulling off,” said Hope Mcclendon, a Jackson County resident. “It’s a very bad intersection.”

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.

MARIANNA, Fla. (WMBB) — One person has died and another was seriously injured after a dump truck collided with a pick-up truck at Highway 73 and Magnolia Road.

A helicopter arrived on the scene to help first responders with victims. The incident happened about 12:30 p.m.
