National Night Out is an annual, nationwide campaign to promote strong partnerships between law enforcement and the communities they serve. Verona will celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday, August 6, at the Verona Community Center from 6 to 9 p.m.

Verona’s event will feature all of the town’s emergency services–the Verona Fire Department, Verona Rescue Squad and the Verona Police Department. The first responders are promising “tons of family friendly activities”, including children’s activities and games, live demonstrations, obstacle courses and educational information. The event will include participation by the U.S. Army, a police K-9 unit, Essex County Sheriff’s Office, the State Police, a Medevac helicopter and Backpacks For Life, a Verona charity that provides services to homeless veterans. There will also be a “Dunk a Cop” game.

National Night Out is a free event, and it will be held rain or shine. For more information see the town’s website or its event page on Facebook.
