MPD: Victim expected to survive after shooting, suspect in custody

The Madison Police Department is investigating a shooting on Madison's north side Wednesday night.

According to Madison Police, a call came in reporting the sound of a gun shot on the 700 block of Troy Drive at 7:39 p.m.

When Madison Police and Madison Fire and Rescue responded to the scene, they found a 25-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his lower torso. He was transported to a local hospital.

Authorities said the victim is listed in stable condition following surgery and is expected to survive.

The suspect, Richard Lee Harris, age 27, was found in the 2000 block of Northridge Terrace and was taken into custody.

The gun used in the shooting was also found. Police say the suspect and the victim knew each other.
