Pedestrian killed in crash near the Village of Blue Mounds

Officials said one pedestrian died in a crash near the Village of Blue Mounds early Thursday morning.

According to the Dane County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened on USH 151 east of Cave of Mounds Road around 12:20 a.m.

The investigation revealed that a 34-year-old driver was heading southbound on USH 151 when he struck a 30-year-old woman walking on USH 151. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash resulted in both southbound lanes of USH 151 to be shut down for about 5.5 hours. The driver who caused the crash cooperated with authorities and will not be charged at this time.

The name of the pedestrian will be released from the Dane County Medical Examiner's Office after the family is notified.

The Dane County Sheriff's Department is investigating the crash.
