3 Additional Flu-Related Deaths Reported in Connecticut

Flu remains widespread in Connecticut and three additional flu-related deaths have been reported. There have now been 25 this season, according to statistics from the state Department of Public Health. 

Fifteen of the flu patients who have died had an unspecified type of influenza A, two had influenza A (2009 H1N1), one had influenza A (H3N2) and the other had influenza B. 

Fifteen of the patients who died are 65 years old or older, nine were 50 to 64 and one was between 25 and 49.

Since the end of August, 1,425 people with influenza have been hospitalized in Connecticut. 

In all, there have been 3,869 influenza positive laboratory tests in Connecticut this season:

  • Fairfield: 811
  • Middlesex: 235
  • New London: 231
  • Litchfield: 176
  • Windham: 139
  • Tolland: 81
  • Unknown: 74
