PIT Maneuvers Bring Chase to Crashing End in Azusa

NBCUniversal, Inc.

A driver, at one point driving on the wrong side of the road, led a chase on streets and freeways in the San Gabriel Valley Thursday before officers rammed the car, forcing the driver to stop.

The driver was initially heading north on the 605 before switching the 210 Freeway, approaching Azusa.

It wasn't clear why the driver was being pursued, but the driver failed to pull over.

At one point, the driver appeared to flee the white vehicle, then continued the pursuit a short time later. The passenger may have hopped in the driver's seat during the confusion.

As Azusa police attempted a PIT maneuver, the driver made a winding turn, avoiding it.

Then a second patrol car rammed the white sedan, forcing a spectacular crash.

The driver was taken into custody.
