Stella White, a Newarker who just graduated from Padua Academy, was recently recognized by the National Federation of Press Women for an opinion article she wrote in response to the shooting at Tree of Life Congregation in Squirrel Hill, Pa., that claimed the lives of 11 people on Oct. 27, 2018.
“Today, we breathe,” Stella White writes in her award-winning opinion article. “Tomorrow, we dread — which one of us is next?”
The article, written in response to the shooting at Tree of Life Congregation in Squirrel Hill, Pa., that claimed the lives of 11 people on Oct. 27, 2018, sought to “capture the immediacy of everyone’s reaction to the shooting, including my own,” she explained.
