The Coast Guard, in a medical emergency, evacuated a 67-year-old Briton from an ocean liner that was on its way from Kochi to Abu Dhabi, said an official on Friday.

Stephen Woodford, a British national, was sailing to Abu Dhabi on trans-Atlantic ocean liner RMS MV Queen Mary 2, and suffered a cardiac arrest on board after which the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC), Mumbai, was alerted on Thursday evening, an official said on Friday.

A Coast Guard interceptor boat C-158 along with ICGS Amal, a fast patrol vessel of the Coast Guard was diverted towards the Bermuda-flagged ship, the official said.
