Only one transgender candidate this year: DU

Of 3,67,895 registrations received on varsity’s admission portal till June 22, the University has received application from only one transgender candidate in the Delhi University. Of all the candidatures, 2,58,388 have proceeded ahead and made payments.

The University has received applications from 84,021 female candidates and 68,457 male candidates under the unreserved category while 4,044 male applicants and 3,056 female applicants applied for admission under the Scheduled Tribe category. Under the Scheduled Caste category, more than 17,000 male and 16,000 female applications have been registered. The Other Backward Class (OBC) non-creamy layer quota comprises 32,926 male candidates and 22,531 female registrations.

5,528 male, 3,562 female candidates and one candidate from the third gender have registered themselves under the newly-introduced EWS quota, for which the University has introduced a 10 per cent increase in seats under Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses.
