SMITHFIELD — A couple legislators who represent Newport were awarded for their environmental efforts.
The Audubon Society of Rhode Island named Representative Lauren Carson and Rhode Island Senator Dawn Euer the recipients of the Audubon 2019 Legislator of the Year award. The award was announced at the Audubon Society’s annual meeting on Oct. 20.
The two legislators share this year’s award. Carson was recognized for her work focusing on sea-level rise and phasing out cesspools in the state and Euer on her work regarding flooding and climate change.
The Audubon Society recognized the two legislators for their work to better and protect the environment in their Rhode Island communities.
