Ashley A. Brott, 28, was charged Wednesday with conspiracy to distribute a mixture containing fentanyl after court documents say she was arrested in Phelps County.

According to a criminal complaint filed in federal court, authorities started monitoring Brott in December based on information gleaned from a different case.

The complaint says law enforcement was tracking Brott's cellphone on Feb. 5 as she traveled from southwest Missouri to the St. Louis area and then headed back toward the Ozarks.

A Phelps County Sheriff's Office deputy stopped Brott for speeding near Rolla that night and got permission to search her vehicle, according to the complaint.

The complaint says authorities found a syringe containing a clear liquid above the headliner in Brott's car and baggies of suspected meth, heroin and possibly fentanyl hidden in the crotch of Brott's pants.

Authorities believe Brott had made several prior trips to transport drugs from St. Louis to Springfield, according to the complaint.

Brott is being held in the Greene County Jail and does not have an attorney listed for this case.
