One of southwest Missouri's largest conventions is returning to its roots in Springfield. After several years in Branson, Visioncon is slated for May 10-12 at the Springfield Expo Center.

For more than two decades, Visioncon has been one of southwest Missouri’s largest conventions, celebrating popular culture for fans of television, comics, tabletop games and video games, according to a press release.

"It's great to be back in Springfield," said Brandon Shane, Visioncon's president. "We really love the energy of downtown Springfield."

The convention.will feature three days of programming that the whole family can enjoy.

This is an "iconic moment" for Visioncon, and the organization has been getting positive feedback from fans, Shane said.

"We're just really excited to make things bigger and better and continue to provide stuff we have before," Shane said.

There are several guests scheduled to appear, including "Firefly" star Jewel Staite, Robbie Rist from "The Brady Bunch," and more.

Visioncon is also a 501(3)c nonprofit organization that donates all proceeds to local charities. The 2019 charity is The Kitchen Inc., Shane said.

Pre-registration goes until April 30 and offers a $15 discount off the cost of admission. Children 12 and under are free with a paying adult. Schedules can be viewed and passes may be purchased at www.visioncon.net.
