You're never too old to enjoy an Easter egg hunt

Scores of people — children and adults — hunted for Easter eggs on Sunday in Springfield. One event sported a helicopter dropping 10,000 eggs from the sky, and the other was for adults only at Mother's Brewing Company.

As the Easter service wrapped up at High Street Baptist Church, approximately 2,000 people watched as a Chopper Charter helicopter flew in.

The helicopter landed and gathered 10,000 Easter eggs stuffed with candy and more before taking flight again. The eggs were dropped and children ages 2-11 raced to grab them.

Josh Dailey, the helicopter pilot, said: "It's an incredible opportunity that I look forward to every year. I love seeing the joy on the kids' faces at all the churches and communities that we drop eggs for."

Just across town later Sunday afternoon, there was the first Adult Easter Egg Hunt at Mother's Brewing Company.

Retail Sales Manager Ashley Dailey said she wanted to host this kind of event for people who may be spending the holiday alone or don't associate with traditional holidays.

About 150 attended the Adult Easter Egg Hunt at Mother's Brewing Company's Backyard on Sunday, April 21, 2019.

"When I was thinking about what people do with their families, I thought there's students, there's people who may be alone that aren't celebrating Easter with someone or maybe they celebrate on Saturday or maybe they can't go out of town," Daily said. "Our Mother's backyard is the perfect place to do it."

About 150 people attended the event, and Mother's Brewing Company employees "hid" 900 eggs, Daily said. Inside the eggs were tickets for free beer, merchandise and toys, like slap bracelets and scratch-and-sniff stickers.

"This will be the first of many," Daily said. "It's going to get better and the more we do it, the more organized we'll be. We just didn't know how many people would actually show up. It turned out great."

Tommie and Tina Anderson took their son, Thomas, to an Easter egg hunt in Hollister on Saturday, so this Adult Easter Egg Hunt was all for them at Mother's Brewing Company.

"It was amazing how much fun it was," Tommie Anderson said. "I can see why (Thomas) wants to go to all of this stuff. Now, I understand."
