Cuonzo Martin said on the radio that Missouri State vs. Mizzou 'as of now' won't happen

Current Mizzou head coach and former Missouri State head coach Cuonzo Martin said on Sports Talk with Art Hains on Monday that the proposed game between the Bears and Tigers isn't going to happen "as of now."

Martin indicated there was some push back for talks of the game, but deciding to call it off was ultimately his decision.

This comes nearly a month after the News-Leader acquired a video of Martin saying he was going to bring the Tigers to Springfield during the 2020-21 season. A contract for the game had yet to be finalized. 

The first confirmation of talks about the game from the Missouri State side came when MSU Athletics Director Kyle Moats said there were talks of a home-and-home series during last month's Board of Governors meeting. He said talks of the game were "on hold."

A game between the two schools would have marked the first time the two programs have played each other in a regular-season game since William Fontleroy dunked over Albert White when the Bears beat the Tigers on Nov. 18, 1998. It would've been the Tigers' first trip to Springfield since the Bears beat them 35-32 on Jan. 8, 1941.
