Fresh off a state championship at Dora, one of the best boys' basketball players in the state is transferring to Kickapoo High School.

Missouri State commit Isaac Haney told the News-Leader that he will be a Chief for his senior year in 2020-21. Haney is enrolled at the school and has worked out with the team in recent weeks.

"The main thing my family wants people to know is that we are all in on Missouri State and we want to be closer to the area," Haney said in a text message. "I'm driving to Springfield four days a week for workouts with Rob (Yanders at The Basketball Movement) and I want to be closer there as well."

Haney is the two-time defending Class 1 Player of the Year. He gave his verbal commitment to Dana Ford and Missouri State in January.

Isaac Haney, of Dora, celebrates during the Falcon's 59-49 win over the St. Elizabeth Hornets to win the Class 1 State Championship at JQH Arena on Friday, March 13, 2020.

Haney led Dora High to a Class 1 state championship win in March with a 59-49 win over St. Elizabeth. In the game, Haney scored 25 points while averaging 31 over the course of the season.

The addition of Haney will give Kickapoo one of the strongest trios in the state.

Haney added to Mizzou commit Anton Brookshire and rising star Cameron Liggins will, again, make Kickapoo a state championship contender.

Kickapoo qualified for the Class 5 state semifinals in March before it was canceled by the coronavirus pandemic.

Haney and Brookshire are no strangers to playing together. The two have been AAU teammates for Yanders Law.
