In a bizarre incident, a leopard cub was spotted near the district courts complex at Chakkar in Shimla on Tuesday morning. According to witnesses, the cub was hiding under a parked car and the police were informed, who then called the forests officials. The animal was later rescued by forest officials.
"We received the call from the police control room located at Mall Road regarding the presence of a leopard cub at Chakkar," range forests officer Himanshu told PTI. According to reports, the cub was most probably separated from his mother and ended up in the capital city.
"The rescue team reached the spot and captured the cub using a net instead of a tranquiliser gun and took it to Tuti Kandi rescue and rehabilitation centre," he added.

The leopard's appearance created quite a chaos among locals. Although, catching hold of the cub was not an easy task for the officials as it kept shifting spots underneath the parked cars, the witnesses said. some people posted videos and photos of the incident on social media in which the cub can be seen trapped in a net as forest officials try commence with the rescue operation.

A veterinary doctor will examine the cub at Tuti Kandi and it will then be released in its natural habitat, the official said.
