Heavy rain prompts Flood Advisory for Cuyahoga, Medina, Ashland and Richland counties

RICHLAND COUNTY, Ohio — A Flood Advisory has been issued for Medina, Ashland, Cuyahoga and Richland Counties due to heavy rain from evening thunderstorms on Saturday.

The advisory for Richland County is in effect until 11 p.m. Saturday. The advisory for Medina and Cuyahoga counties is in effect until 11:45 p.m.

Some locations that will experience flooding include:

  • Cleveland
  • Medina
  • Parma
  • Lakewood
  • Cleveland Heights
  • Strongsville
  • Brunswick
  • Westlake
  • North Royalton
  • Lodi
  • Creston
  • Chippewa Lake
  • North Olmsted
  • Garfield Heights
  • Shaker Heights
  • Maple Heights
  • Parma Heights
  • Rocky River
  • Broadview Heights
  • Brook Park.

Radar shows heavy rain over Richland County, which could cause urban and small stream flooding. Overflowing poor drainage areas could also result in flooding.

The National Weather Service said additional rainfall of one to two inches is expected over the area in the next several hours.
