Fire crews were called out to deal with a blaze in a fast food trailer in Carlisle this morning.

A spokesman for Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service said crews from the east and west of the city were alerted at around 08.30am, being called out to near to Sainsbury’s on Caldewgate, Carlisle.

"On arrival, crews found a catering trailer which was alight due to a fault with its brakes," said a statement.

"Crews extinguished the fire quickly before the cylinders inside the catering van were compromised.

"The fire was extinguished using one hosereel jet."

The spokesman added that there gas cylinders in the van but the fire was put out before they were able to pose a danger.
