POLICE are looking for two people after a woman was injured during an early-morning assault in Carlisle.

The incident, which involved a man and a woman, took place during the early hours of Saturday, June 29.

The woman suffered minor injuries.

A 23-year-old man from Carlisle has been arrested on suspicious of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and released on bail.

A spokesman from Cumbria Police said: "The couple were out in Carlisle prior to the incident and police are appealing for witnesses and are looking to identify two specific witnesses.

"The man and woman in question got into a taxi on Court Square, Carlisle by the train station sometime during the early hours.

"They shared a lift with two unknown persons and all parties left the vehicle in the Denton Holme area.

"The man was wearing a long sleeved grey polo top and the woman was wearing a white t-shirt and a denim skirt."
