NEXT Saturday two determined men will take part in an eight-hour, 60-mile static bike ride for charity.

Wigton ABC founder and coach, Andi Crossman will team up with 16-year-old boxer, Jack Dixon for the ride at the William Rufus, Carlisle, as a way of supporting their mission to raise money for the chosen charity CLIC Sargent.

CLIC Sargent is Wetherspoon’s chosen charity and it works tirelessly to stop cancer destroying young lives.

It works to help when each child or young person is most in need and shapes the work it does around six core principles.

These include, day to day support, financial support, homes from home, for teens and young adults, bereavement support and campaigning to make a change.

Andi said: “We will bike 60 miles on the static bike which is meant to symbolise how far a child has to travel for care.

“DW Fitness has been great and got involved to lend us the bikes.”

The pair will start the challenge at 9am on July 27 and bike for eight hours continuously to raise money and awareness.

“It’s going to be tough,” continued Andi.

“We’re both really determined and won’t get off until we’re done.

“Jack is only 16 and one of the most determined young men I have ever met. He’ll never say no to a challenge.

“The closer it gets the more nervous I get but that makes me more determined.”

Andi has done a challenge like this before but never had a set mileage.

Last time he raised just under £500 and hopes to top that this year.
