A WHITEHAVEN man has admitted being responsible for a town centre attack which left his victim with fractures to his face and skull.

Thomas Lee O'Fee, 23, faced one charge when he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court this morning over a video link from custody.

O'Fee pleaded guilty to unlawfully and maliciously causing Richard Kenyon grievous bodily harm, with intent to do so.

That offence arises out of an incident at College Street in Whitehaven which is said to have occurred at around 3am on June 14.

Mr Kenyon is said to have suffered multiple facial fractures, and a fracture to the base of his skull.

Judge James Adkin adjourned the case for the preparation of an impact statement on behalf of Mr Kenyon.

Prosecutor Gerard Rogerson told the court: "I would ask that his wife is able to provide a statement as to the impact upon her and their two young children."

A medical report detailing the seriousness of the injuries Mr Kenyon suffered will also be sought.

O'Fee, of George Street, Whitehaven, was told he is due to be sentenced at the crown court on Monday, 29th July.

In the meantime he was remanded in custody by Judge Adkin.
