Firefighters rushed to a farm fire early this morning.
Three crews from Longtown, Carlisle West and Penrith stations, scrambled to the fire between Sandysike and the Brampton Road.
The call came at about 4am this morning and the crews found about 70 tonnes f hay alight.
A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: "We found thick smoke pouring from an agricultural barn full of hay.
"Using a farmers loader, four breathing apparatus wearers, two hose reel jets, a water bowser and various hand tools we fought the fire with the assistance of our colleagues.
"The crews were on site for five hours, until everything was made safe."
