A MAN has been charged after a 64-year-old woman was seriously injured in Keswick.
Police charged the man with grievous bodily harm with intent after the woman suffered a serious head injury on Wednesday night.
Officers were alerted to the incident, which occurred inside an address in St Kentigern Close, by the North West Ambulance Service at 11.20pm that evening.
A spokesman from Cumbria Police said: "The woman was taken to Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle where she remains in a serious condition.
"Patrick Webster, 62, of St Kentigern Close, was arrested at the scene and has been charged today (Friday, September 13).
"He is due to appear at West Allerdale Magistrates court this afternoon.
"We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything in the St Kentigern Close area around this time.
"Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting ‘Operation Exact’."
