THE search for Santa is about to begin in the Cumbrian skies.

A total of 18 children will jet off from Carlisle Lake District Airport at 1pm today, heading away on a magical journey across the county to look out for Father Christmas.

Tickets for the inaugural one-hour flight went on sale on Wednesday and were snapped up within a few hours by those eager to spot Santa and his sleigh.

The afternoon of fun will also include a Winter Wonderland, children’s entertainment and a Santa Christmas letter workshop for the lucky few set to attend.

All of the proceeds from the flight will be donated to the Jigsaw Children’s Charity.

A spokesman from Jigsaw said: “A huge thank you to Carlisle Lake District Airport who are hosting a fantastic festive family and raising money in aid of Jigsaw.”

Money collected by the flight will go towards helping the charity with providing unique care and support to children and young adults with life limiting illnesses.

The flight will be operated by Loganair, who currently fly from the airport.
