COLUMBIA, Tenn. (WTVF) — A manhunt has gotten underway for a suspect who allegedly shot at police officers after assaulting his girlfriend at her Columbia home.

Columbia police said 47-year-old Jamal Gardner is wanted for attempted first-degree murder, reckless endangerment, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a firearm and aggravated domestic assault.

Gardner is accused of assaulting his girlfriend during an argument before leaving her home and using a rifle to shoot at an officer during a traffic stop on West 13th Street.

Police said he then went into his home, also on West 13th Street, and continued shooting as more officers arrived.

It’s believed he fled the area on foot before police could fully surround the home.

Police said Gardner is considered armed and dangerous and have asked residents to remain on alert.

If you see him, do not approach and call 911 immediately.

Video footage has been released of Gardner shooting at police. You can view it above.
