STAUNTON - There is a flood warning for parts of the area until 9 a.m. on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

A flood warning is in effect for east central Augusta County and south central
Rockingham County, the NWS said.

Shortly before 6 a.m. on Monday, the stream gauge along the Middle River at Grottoes
reported a value of 12.8 feet, eight inches above flood level. The river level is now falling. The river should fall below minor stage by mid-morning, according to the NWS.

The Augusta County Emergency Communications Center also reported high water along Battlefield Road near Grottoes.

Some locations that could experience flooding include Grottoes, Fishersville, Verona, Weyers Cave, New Hope and the Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport, the NWS said.
