There's only a few days to wait before the Jefferson City Jaycees kick off the 70th annual Cole County Fair.

The fair is set to take place Monday through Aug. 1, with many of the standard events planned, though there are some changes this year. There will not be a Little Mr. & Miss Contest or baby contest this year, and there will be signage to encourage social distancing as well as increased hand-washing and hand-sanitizing stations.

Gates will open at 5 p.m. each night, w9ith Monday offering free admission. On Tuesday, admission will be $7 (in honor of the 70th year of the fair) and for the rest of the week, admission is $15 for those ages 12 and older. The fair will feature the typical carnival rides and fare, as well as live music each night and events in the arena.

Shows will include Murphy's Ford on Monday, Renee Blair and Jake Rose on Tuesday, Disco Dick and the Mirrorballs on Wednesday, The Rock Gods on July 30, Teddy Robb and Tyler Rich on July 31 and Point 08 with Hinder on Aug. 1

Events will include the Mid-America Tractor Pullers Association on Monday and July 31, Hwy 65 MX Motocross on Tuesday, the Toughest Monster Truck Tour on Wednesday and July 30, and Lucky 7's Promotions' Figure 8 Race on Aug. 1.

The Toughest Monster Truck Tour is a first for the local fair. The event will feature 10,000-pound monster trucks doing battle in three different competitions.

With the global pandemic continuing and situations changing, it is encouraged to check the Jefferson City Jaycees Fair Facebook page for any updates or changes during the fair.
