A Jefferson City man has been charged with stealing more than $34,000 from the youth wrestling club where he was director.
Ryan McKee, 47, was charged Wednesday afternoon with one count of felony stealing.
A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement states the theft was reported by two witnesses Aug. 21.
The witnesses told detectives the Jays Kids Wrestling Club, a volunteer organization, was missing $34,424.
McKee was also identified as the head coach of the club, and the witnesses said he was an authorized user of the club's bank account. The witnesses also said any financial transactions on the club's bank account were to be related to wrestling events.
Investigators obtained club financial records and reportedly found 28 transactions between Jan. 19, 2016, and Feb. 20 of this year which consisted of McKee depositing funds from the wrestling club's account at Central Bank into his own personal account with Providence Bank.
Authorities also allegedly found two other transactions where two utility bills at McKee's home were paid in February, using the wrestling club's funds.
