Jefferson City man charged for weapons offense

A Jefferson City man has been charged in connection with a weapons offense that occurred Oct. 10.

Byron Williams, 30, is charged with two counts of delivery of a controlled substance and one count of unlawful use of a weapon.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement states the incident occurred Oct. 10 in the 300 block of West Ashley Street.

Multiple tenants in the apartment building reported hearing a gunshot. One tenant told officers Williams was in one of the apartments, sleeping, just before the shot was heard.

While standing near the rear of the building, an officer reportedly saw Williams run from the building, wearing nothing but his underwear.

An open window to one of the apartments was spotted. On the ground below the window, officers allegedly found a bag with a loaded .45-caliber pistol, nearly 80 grams of methamphetamine, nearly 99 grams of marijuana and more than $1,200. Also inside the bag were a state identification card, a Lincoln University ID and multiple credit/debit cards with Williams’ name on them.
