A Jefferson City woman was hurt Tuesday evening during a chain reaction collision on the bottom level of the tri-level interchange.

Police report Annette R. Bruemmer, 69, received minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to a Jefferson City hospital following the 5:17 p.m. wreck.

Bruemmer was driving a car eastbound in the left lane of U.S. 50 approaching the interchange with U.S. 54 and 63, but did not immediately notice that two eastbound vehicles were stopped in traffic in front of her, police said. Although she applied her brakes, she was unable to avoid hitting the rear of a vehicle driven by Natosha N. Quehl, 30, of Holts Summit. The impact pushed Quehl's vehicle forward into the rear of a vehicle driven by Kaylin R. Lynch, 28, of Linn.

Police said neither Quehl nor Lynch reported injuries.

William A.J. Quehl III, 30, of Winston, Missouri, who was a passenger in the Quehl vehicle, was uninjured, and a 2-year-old child in Lynch's vehicle, who was riding in a child safety seat, also escaped injury. All four adults were wearing seat belts.

One lane of eastbound U.S. 50 was shut down for approximately 40 minutes while emergency personnel worked to clear the scene. During that time, both eastbound lanes were shut down briefly as the ambulance was loaded.

The Jefferson City Police Department Traffic Unit investigated the crash.
