Jefferson City man charged with assault

A Jefferson City man was charged with second-degree assault after an alleged knife attack last week.

Timothy Jack was charged in Cole County with second-degree assault.

According to a Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement, authorities responded to reports of an assault early Thursday morning near Dollar Tree, 713 Madison St. Police located a man with a baseball bat nearby, who stated he heard Jack involved in a disturbance with a friend at the store.

He reportedly tried to separate Jack from his friend and was struck with an unknown object several times. He said he went home to retrieve the bat but couldn't find Jack or the other individual upon his return.

The man was reportedly bleeding from a large cut above his left eye and both hands but declined medical attention. He said he believed the assault weapon to be a knife.

Jack was located near the store and given numerous commands to comply with authorities, but reportedly told an officer to shoot him. He gave statements saying he beat the man up, but refused to say any more.

The woman who Jack was allegedly in the disturbance with in the store reportedly didn't cooperate with the investigation, and the man who was allegedly assaulted said he no longer wished to pursue charges after a conversation with the woman.
