The Food 4 Kids summer feeding program is adding a fourth distribution site in Mid-Missouri.
Offered through the United Way of Central Missouri and area partners, the program will provide free sack lunches in Jefferson City to children younger than 18 from 11:30 a.m.-noon Monday through Friday, starting this coming Monday and continuing through Aug. 21. Each child receives one sack lunch per day.
The new site is Second Christian Church, 631 Lafayette St. in Jefferson City.
Previously announced sites include Building Community Bridges, 213 E. Ashley St.; at the corner of Elizabeth and Edmond streets; and at Elston Acres Mobile Home Park, 801 Route T.
Food 4 Kids is beginning as the Jefferson City School District, which had provided meals through the summer despite having not held classes for months, begins preparations for children to return for the upcoming school year. The program provides nutritious food during the summer when school is not in session.
