Jefferson City hospitals requiring masks for all

Both Jefferson City hospitals now require all patients, visitors and employees to wear face coverings while in facilities and patient care areas.

As the number of elective procedures being done in facilities increases and clinic visits expand, more patients and caregivers will be interacting with each other, according to a Capital Region Medical Center news release.

"Out of an abundance of caution and for the protection of the community, any person entering a CRMC facility in a patient care area will be required to wear a mask," the release notes. "This applies to patients, their care giver and employees."

St. Mary's Hospital made a similar announcement earlier this week.

St. Mary's Hospital will continue to require masks, testing of all patients prior to their scheduled procedures, screenings of all employees, visitors and contractors, and maintaining separation between COVID-19 and other patients, according to a news release.

Limitations on visits remain in place for both hospitals.

"CRMC continues to restrict visitors with limited exceptions such as a parent or guardian to accompany a minor or a support person with a birthing mother," the CRMC release notes. "Those coming to CRMC will be screened at the door for fever and symptoms of COVID-19. Patients who show symptoms of illness will be provided a hospital-grade mask if they do not have one. Visitors with signs of illness will not be allowed into the facility."
