Jefferson City’s Ice Cream Splash canceled

Jefferson City’s sixth annual Ice Cream Splash has been canceled out of caution related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ice cream-tasting festival was scheduled to take place in July. The Jefferson City Arts Foundation decided canceling the event was the safest option for the community as well as vendors and sponsors.

Previous Ice Cream Splash events raised funds for the first free splash pad in Jefferson City.

Work at Community Park started in May 2019. The splash pad is joined by new playground equipment and covered pavilions. JC Parks staff hope to open the park this spring.

“We are so excited that the splash area is moving forward in the newly refurbished Community Park and that JC Parks and Recreation is close to formally opening,” JC Arts Foundation President Lucia Kincheloe said. “We can’t wait to be back next year for this fun festival and, of course, the ‘all you can eat’ ice cream.”

The JC Arts Foundation, a not-for-profit organization, has a community board made up of 13 members and exists to integrate cultural arts into the fabric of Jefferson City.
