Lottery players in South Carolina are being urged to check their tickets, as a winning Powerball ticket worth $100,000 is yet to be claimed.
The ticket for the draw on Saturday, June 22, was purchased at an Enmarket convenient store on Neeses Highway, Orangeburg, with the numbers 3, 6, 11, 14, 66 and Powerball 21.
In a statement, the South Carolina Education Lottery revealed the lucky ticket holder benefited from paying an additional $1 for a Powerplay, as their original $50,000 prize doubled to $100,000 when a "2" multiplier was selected.
"Check your tickets," a South Carolina Education Lottery spokesperson said. "More than 11,000 players in South Carolina hold tickets for prizes from $4 up to $100,000. Of these, more than 5,200 players purchased PowerPlay to see their non-jackpot winnings, excluding the Match 5 prize, multiplied by two."
Those with winning tickets have up to 180 days to claims their money. Those wishing to seek more information on claiming their prizes are being asked to check sceducationlottery.com for further details.
According to the South Carolina Education Lottery, the odds of matching four white ball numbers with the red Powerball number are one in 913,129.
Elsewhere in South Carolina, a man is celebrating winning $1 million on a Carolina Millions scratch-off ticket he bought for his birthday.
"This is life-changing," said Dennis Ressler while cashing in his winning ticket at the Lottery's Columbia Claims Center on June 18. "Unbelievable," he added. "I'm going to win Powerball next."
Ressler said he is going to use the money to retire, a few years earlier than planned.
The Breakers Inman convenience store where Ressler purchased the scratch card is also celebrating after being awarded a commission of $10,000.
A total of 186 millionaires have been created in the state from the South Carolina Education Lottery.
The next Powerball draw will take place on Thursday, June 27. The estimated jackpot currently stands at $122 million.
The largest Lottery win in history was the $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot shared by winners across California, Florida and Tennessee in January 2016. The next highest was the $1.537 billion Mega Millions jackpot won in South Carolina last October, followed by a $768.4 million with a cash option of $477 million, which was won by a lucky ticket holder in Wisconsin.
"A jackpot of this size can make many dreams come true—not just for the winner(s), but for all Lottery beneficiaries and the lucky state of Wisconsin," David Barden, Powerball Product Group Chairman and New Mexico Lottery CEO, said in a statement.
