Comedian Bert Kreischer says Albany is ‘the biggest dump’

Ha ha? Comedian Bert Kreischer took a shot at an Upstate New York city just three months after performing there.

Kreischer, whose credits include FX’s “Hurt Bert” and the Travel Channel’s “Bert the Conquerer,” appeared in a new episode of the popular YouTube series “Hot Ones” on Thursday. Host Sean Evans typically interviews guests while challenging them to eat hotter and hotter buffalo wings, but this time Kreischer and fellow stand-up comedian Tom Segura played “Truth or Dab," choosing to either answer the toughest questions or eat the hottest wings dabbed in sauce with as much as 2,000,000 Scoville units.

Evans kicked off the segment by asking Kreischer about his recent tour: “Of the 28 cities you visited, which one was the biggest dump?”

Kreischer laughed and initially opted to eat a hot wing. “Can’t wait to come back next year!” he joked.

But Kreischer either didn’t understand the rules of the game or couldn’t resist answering the question.

“By the way, it was Albany,” he said mid-bite as Segura laughed.

Kreischer didn’t elaborate on why he named Albany, but he did perform at The Egg in January as part of his recent “Body Shots" tour. Some fans in the Capital Region shared the new video, already seen by more than 1.2 million people, on social media with similar reactions.

“He said Albany was a dump, I’m so proud of my city lmao,” one YouTube user wrote.

“As someone who lives outside of Albany... I take no offense and agree,” another commented with laughing while crying emoji.

The rest of the video includes Segura and Kreischer dodging questions about fellow comedians, such as the worst standup specials and the biggest joke-stealers.

Kreischer, also known as “The Machine,” first rose to fame in a 1997 Rolling Stone article as “the top partier at the No. 1 Party School in the country"; his stories while attending Florida State University inspired the Ryan Reynolds movie “National Lampoon’s Van Wilder.” Kreischer has his own podcast (“Bertcast”), has appeared on several reality TV shows, and has released standup comedy specials on Comedy Central, Showtime and Netflix.

Kreischer does not have any upcoming tour dates in Upstate New York.

Segura’s upcoming schedule includes an Aug. 8 performance at the Palace Theatre in Albany, Nov. 9 at Shea’s Performing Arts Center in Buffalo, and Nov. 10 at the Landmark Theatre in Syracuse.
