School districts in New Jersey called for closures and delayed openings on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019 due to a winter storm that was expected to hit the state with a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain throughout the day.
The National Weather Service warned that a coating of ice could cause travel disruptions and knock out power. The northern half of New Jersey was expected to get 3 to 6 inches of snow. Lesser amounts were expected farther south, where snow on Monday caused dozens of school districts to close or start late.
